On November 10, a book donation ceremony was held at Cebu City Library for the "READ JAPAN PROJECT" sponsored by Nippon Foundation through the Japan Science Association.
Consul General Kawasaki, Mrs. Rosario Chua (Librarian) and Mr. Jaypee Labella, who is in behalf of the City Mayor, Edgardo Lavella, attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Mrs. Rosario Chua expressed her gratitude to the Nippon Foundation and the Japan Science Association for the donated books, and she hoped that the library should like to strengthen their collaboration with Consulate-General of Japan since there are many young Cebuano who are interested in Japan.
Consul General Kawasaki expressed the delight of having the READ JAPAN PROJECT for the first time in Cebu. In addition, he stated in his speech that it is still important to share experiences and accurate information through books, even in today's world where many are using ICT. He hoped that the books donated would be an opportunity for many Cebuano readers to broaden their horizons.
Lastly, a message with expectation for deepening Japanese studies in Cebu from Chairman, the Nippon Foundation, was conveyed by Consul General Kawasaki.
