National Day Reception to celebrate the 63rd Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan (20th February 2023)

Consul General Hideki YAMAJI hosted a National Day Reception to celebrate the
63rd Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan on February 20, 2023, at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, Cebu City.
On the occasion, Consul General Yamaji appreciated the longtime friendship and best relations of Japan with the people of Cebu and the Visayas, and the recent visit of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos to Japan, which may deepen the closer ties of Japan and Philippines. Also he highlighted the support of the Japanese government for the construction of the Cebu-Mactan Bridge (The Fourth Bridge) and coastal road,which may create more jobs and further the development in the Tri-Cities (Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu).
In addition, Mayor Michael Lopez Rama of Cebu City made a message for the good health of the Emperor of Japan and proposed a ceremonial toast with Consul General Yamaji. This was followed by the performance of the taiko (Japanese drum) and the presentation of Sinulog Dance by employees of Japanese Company, Cebu Mitsumi, selected by qualifying round.
The successful celebration was attended with the distinguished guests: Vice Governor Dionesio Victor Balite of Bohol, Mayor Nacional Mercado of Maasin City, Southern Leyte, Vice Mayor Raymund Alvin Garcia of Cebu City, Hon. Song Sewon, Consul General of Korea, Cebu Provincial Board Members, City Councilors of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu, and many others.
