On October 13, Dr. Marie Therese Jarantilla-Robles received the Foreign Minister’s Commendation Certificate for Fiscal Year 2023, through Consul General of Japan, Mr. Hideki YAMAJI, during the awarding ceremony held at a hotel in Iloilo City.
Dr. Marie Therese Jarantilla-Robles studied at Osaka University under the Monbusho (Japan’s Ministry of Education, or MEXT) scholarship. After that, she served over eighteen years as a member of the Board of Directors and as President of the Philippines Association of Japanese Government Scholars (PHILAJAMES) Visayas and contributed to promoting mutual understanding and cultural exchange programs between Japan and the Western Visayas people.
The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. This year, the commendations will be awarded to 187 individuals and 63 groups.
