Consul General and Mrs. MATSUO hosted National Day Reception to celebrate the 65th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan (21 February 2024)

On February 21, National Day Reception was held in honor of the 65th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. The reception was hosted by Consul General and Mrs.  MATSUO at the Nustar Ballroom, with 200 well-wishers attended.
Consul General Matsuo, in his speech, mentioned the various significant developments in Japan-Philippines bilateral relations during the past years. This includes the record-breaking number of over 800,000 visitors to Japan, making it one of the major South-east Asian countries. Likewise, he encouraged the guests to participate in the upcoming Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025. CG Matsuo also referred to the possible investment from the Philippines to Japan in various potential fields.
Hon. Raymond Alvin Garcia, Cebu City Mayor, graced the event as the guest of honor of the evening. He wished His Majesty the Emperor of Japan good health and prosperity, among others. And he thanked Japan’s ODA projects in Cebu.
The venue was adorned with the incredible and timeless beauty of Ikebana by Ikebana International Cebu Chapter and Bonsai by Cebu Bonsai Society Inc,.
Furthermore, a Japanese NPO, Seven Spirit Youth Orchestra played Japanese, Philippine and Bisaya songs in beautiful harmony to add a touch of color.
The reception was truly memorable, celebrating another year of outstanding friendship and mutual understanding between the people of Japan and the Philippines, especially the Visayas region.
