 On August 15, Consul-General Yudai UENO paid tribute at the memorial service organized by the Japanese Association in Cebu.
 The service was held at the "Cebu Kannon" (Goddess of Mercy) monument in the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu. Consul General delivered a memorial address to the souls of those who lost their lives in the War and made a pledge for world peace.
 Consul-General Yudai UENO referred to the address of His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos JR. as State Guest, for the Joint Session of the National Diet of Japan, stating the President Elpido Quirino's belief that 'after all, destiny has made us neighbors', Consul-General Ueno further said that the Japanese must never forget the forgiving hearts of the Filipino people. He continued “we will keep passing on history to the younger generation without letting it fade from memory and never repeat the horrors of war.
 Lastly Consul-General Ueno stated that President Marcos Jr and Prime Minister Takaichi underscored their commitment to strengthening and developing a sustainable and multi-layered partnership as Comprehensive Strategic Partners.
 He also offered flowers and prayed for eternal peace to the 14th Division Southern Army Hospital Memorial Monument in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center and at the Filipino-Japanese Memorial Monument in Plaza Independencia in Cebu City.
